Incumbent parties retain all four ridings: Conservative candidates Larry Maguire and Ted Falk are elected in Brandon—Souris and Provencher respectively, while Liberal candidates Emmanuel Dubourg and Chrystia Freeland are elected in Bourassa and Toronto Centre respectively.
On November 3, 2006, a decision was made by the Quebec government and the City of Quebec to rename the Autoroute Du Vallon and its future extension to Autoroute Robert-Bourassa, in honour of the late Quebec premier.
Lapointe was founder and president of the Commission scolaire Henri-Bourassa teaching association, and from 1964 to 1966 he was a member of the provincial council of the Corporation des enseignants du Québec.
