Alexander Prokhanov

In the 1996 Russian presidential election, Prokhanov supported the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov.

Communist Party of the Russian Federation

It is the second largest political party in the Russian Federation, after United Russia.

In February 2005 the CPRF managed to beat the ruling pro-Kremlin party, United Russia, in elections to the regional legislature of Nenets Autonomous Okrug, obtaining 27% of the popular vote.

On 7 April 2011, the CPRF candidate Ilya Potapov won the mayoral election in the town of Berdsk with a landslide victory over the United Russia candidate.

The party's stated goal is to establish a new, modernised form of socialism in Russia.

But since Roman Grebennikov has switched allegiances to United Russia, angering many communists who accuse him of using the CPRF as a tool to become elected.

Pravda

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which gained new ground in Russia after the 1996 Duma elections, finally purchased Pravda.


Legislative Assembly of Amur Oblast

Following the results of elections in Legislative assembly of tne VI convocation a barrier there passed 4 parties: United Russia – 17 places, LDPR – 8 places, the CPRF – 8 places, Just Russia – 3 places.

The last election, held in 2009, left United Russia in the majority with 32 seats and the Communist Party with 3 seats.

People's Khural of Kalmykia

The fourth legislature which was constituted in 2008 consists of 27 deputies, i.e. 17 deputies of United Russia, 7 of the Communist Party and 3 of the Agrarian Party of Russia.
