Adam Grant Horne

After operating a business on his own account in Nanaimo, he took further employment with the HBC first at its Fort Simpson post and then took charge of its Comox operation from 1865 to 1878 when the post there was closed as well.

Comox language

It has two main dialects, Island Comox, associated with the Comox Indian Band, and Mainland Comox, associated with the Sliammon, Klahoose and Homalhco peoples.

Comox people

The Komox people, usually known in English as the Comox people and also spelled K'omoks, are an indigenous group of Coast Salishan-speaking people in Comox, British Columbia and in the Toba Inlet and Malaspina Peninsula areas of the British Columbia mainland across Georgia Strait.

Comox-Strathcona Regional District

The Vancouver Island part of the Comox Strathcona Regional District stretches all the way across the island from east to west, and north to south between Sayward and the Denman and Hornby Islands on its east coast, and between Nootka Island and the Brooks Peninsula on its west coast, including most of Strathcona Provincial Park.

There were three groups of indigenous people, the Comox, the Pentlach (who were then nearly extinct), and the Lekwiltok, in the valley when the European settlers arrived.

Hope Slide

On 23 April 1966, a Royal Canadian Air Force Grumman CSR-110 Albatross (9302) serving with No. 121 Composite Unit (KU) at RCAF Station Comox, BC crashed on the Hope Slide.

MV Tenaka

Traffic on that route soon outgrew the Comox Queen, and from 1969 to 1976, the Ministry borrowed BC Ferries' Queen of the Islands in the summer for use on the route.

After four tough games in four days in Comox, the team had only a couple of days of rest before flying to Winnipeg and boarding a team bus to St. Malo, Manitoba to represent British Columbia at the 2013 Keystone Cup – the Western Canadian Junior B Championships.
