4 unusual facts about Copenhagen Central Station


Frederick IX of Denmark

First a brief ceremony was held in the chapel where the king had lain in state, where the Bishop of Copenhagen, Willy Westergaard Madsen said a brief prayer, followed by a hymn, before the coffin was carried out of the chapel by members of the Royal Life Guards and placed on a gun carriage for the journey through Copenhagen to Copenhagen Central Station.

At the Copenhagen Central Station, the coffin was placed in a special railway carriage for the rail journey to Roskilde.

Nimb Hotel

A new building in the same style was ready the following year but it was torn down in 1908 in connection with the construction of Copenhagen Central Station.

Oresund Line

The railway line continues from the Continental Line south of Malmö and heads west passing over the Oresund Bridge on the lower section, Peberholm artificial island and under Copenhagen Airport to Copenhagen Central Station.


DSB Øresund

DSB Øresund operates train services on the tendered Coast Line and half of the train service between Copenhagen Central Station and Malmö via the Øresund Bridge.
