Cordite

In the Warner Brothers cartoon Duck! Rabbit! Duck!, Daffy Duck, after being repeatedly shot by Elmer Fudd, declares, "Shoot me again! I enjoy it! I love the smell of burnt feathers, and gunpowder, and cordite!"

A smaller site at Girvan, South Ayrshire, now occupied by Grant's distillery, produced cordite and TNT.

QF 4.7-inch Gun Mk I–IV

It was optimised for the modern smokeless propellants such as Cordite and could be loaded and fired far more rapidly than the BL 5-inch gun while firing a shell only slightly lighter.

Blacknor Fort

In 1937-39, anti-aircraft rockets, using 3-inch tubular charges produced by the Royal Naval Cordite Factory, Holton Heath, were tested at the fort by the Explosives Research Department of the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich.
