Cormier, when asked about his influences, stated: "In a lot of ways we get really inspired by non-metal bands. For me, I find I really like looking at other things because I just don't want to make a traditional hardcore record lyrically. So for me, I listen to a lot of indie rock and I've been getting super psyched on a lot of that, like the new Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes".

The following month, he made a guest appearance along with Emile Dupree, Hubert Gallant, Rick Martel, Butcher Vachon, promoters Al Zinck and Bob Leonard at a "Recognition Night" banquet honoring the Cormier brothers Leo, Yvon, Rudy Kay, and Bobby Kay.
He also represented New Brunswick in the ice hockey tournament at the 2007 Canada Games, where Cormier scored seven goals and thirteen assists in six games played as his team finished in seventh place.
On May 13, 2007, the Atlanta Braves signed Cormier to a minor league contract and assigned him to their AAA-affiliate, the Richmond Braves.
In 1999, Casey travelled to Rome to meet Pope John Paul II and accept the Blessed Hyacinth Cormier, O.P., Medal for "outstanding leadership in the promotion of Gospel Values in the field of justice and ethics".
Cormier also received notoriety after the Beastie Boys featured his name in their hit single “Body Movin’” off their 1998 Grammy award winning album Hello Nasty with the lyrics, “Puttin’ bodies in motion ‘cause I got the notion / Like Roy Cormier with the coconut lotion.”
