The Corringham Light Railway (CLR) in Corringham, Essex, England was incorporated on 10 July 1899 and opened to freight on 1 January 1901, to passengers on 22 June 1901.

The CLR ran from a junction with the LTSR near Thames Haven to the Kynoch explosives works at Shell Haven, with branches east to Kynochtown (later Coryton) and west to Corringham.
In the 1086 Domesday Book Scotterthorpe is written as "Scaltorp", in the West Riding of Lindsey and the Hundred of Corringham.

In 2008, the Thurrock branch of the IWCA contested the working class Stanford East and Corringham Town ward and won 98 votes, down from 144 votes in 2007 and behind the BNP's 344 votes.
It consisted of the north western part of the county, and included the Isle of Axholme and the Aslacoe, Corringham, Manley, Lawress and Well wapentakes.
