Due to undergoing rehabilitation on his knee, Gameiro made his debut with Strasbourg in Ligue 2 late in the season on 19 September 2006 in the club's 2–0 loss to Auxerre in the Coupe de la Ligue.
Three days later he netted the 2–1 winner against Lille in the campaign's Coupe de la Ligue, in the 64th minute; on the 22nd, in his 100th official game for Lyon, he scored against Vendée Luçon Football for the French Cup round-of-32.
He still managed to contribute with six goals in 28 Ligue 1 games as his new club won the national championship for the second time in its history; he helped PSG to the following season's French Cup, and was on target in the League Cup final against SC Bastia (2–0).
