In 2005 he won the British national title for the 200 metres tandem sprint competing with Craig MacLean.
This programme challenged Craig and fellow British sportsmen Jason Gardener, Dean Macey and Dan Luger to qualify for the British Championships in Italy, with only 10 days training.
He is considerably further ahead, in terms of ability and achievement, than senior riders like Hoy and Craig MacLean were at his age.
The pair set a world record time of 1:01.351, and after team mates and main rivals Anthony Kappes and Craig MacLean suffered a mechanical failure, took the gold medal.

This time paired with Craig MacLean, he again achieved gold in both the Kilo and Sprint, setting a new world record in the Sprint.
