One of the few retained buildings of significance is "The White House" former public house, an Art Deco listed building which was restored with gallery space inside in 2011.
Since 2002 the People's Festival has presented shows in Saughton Prison, Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary, the Scottish Parliament, The Stand Comedy Club, Woodburn Miners Welfare, the BMC Club in Gorgie, Artspace in Craigmillar and the North Edinburgh Arts Centre as well as community centres in the North, South, East and West of the city.
The Gilmour Baronetcy, of Liberton and Craigmillar in the County of Midlothian, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 29 July 1926 for Robert Gilmour, a Brigadier-General in the British Army and Captain of the Royal Company of Archers.
