The music video for "Bad Boy for Life" was directed by Chris Robinson, filmed in June 2001 and released in early July, and features a number of cameo appearances including guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Travis Barker, actor Ben Stiller, actor Richard Dunn, rappers Xzibit, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, boxer Mike Tyson, basketball player Shaquille O'Neal and rap rock band Crazy Town.
In November 2000, part of the second segment of the song was sampled by rap rock band Crazy Town for their single "Butterfly", which featured additional lyrics by the members of the band.
Crazy Town stated they were not personally disappointed that the album did not sell as well as their last, The Gift of Game, considering they were moving the band in a new direction, away from the pop success they achieved with their number 1 song "Butterfly".
