It was a young Swede named Patrick Westerlund, who together with friends he had met on the IRC network DALnet, started the radio as a hobby project.
His 1990s novels Make Way For Dragons!, Human, Beware! and Dragons on the Town featured a dragon named Dalvenjah Foxfire for whom DALnet is (indirectly) named.
