DZTR was a music AM station and features celebrities such as Vilma Santos, Tirso Cruz III, German Moreno and others.On September 5, 1976, The station signed off to pave way for the launch of 99.5 RT the following day.

One of the most remembered examples of this was in the early 1980s when RT broke in the song "More To Lose" by the obscure English duo, Seona Dancing (one-half of which is the now famous lead actor and comic of the British television hit series The Office, Ricky Gervais).
In 1985, a Manila New Wave radio station, DWRT-FM started playing a song billed as "Fade" by Medium.
