Among the Dawoodi Bohra branch of Musta'lī Ismā'īlī, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin is the 53rd Dā'ī al-Mutlaq and vicegerent of the occulted Fatimid 21st Imam At-Tayyib Abu'l-Qasim.
Al-Fakhrī ‘Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Husain is the 52nd Da'i al-Mutlaq of Ismaili Sulaymanis.
During the period of 51st Dai Syedna Taher Saifuddin (A.Q) (1915-1965 AD), the Dawoodi Bohra Dawat shifted to Mumbai and continues there to the present day, currently headed by 53rd Dai al Mutlaq Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin TUS.
Al-Thubeiti was born Mutlaq Hamid Al-Thubeiti Al-Otaibi in Taif On September 9, 1937, in 1965 he graduated from the faculty of Sharia Islamic Studies in Mecca, in 1967 he traveled to the United Kingdom where he studied English at the university of manchester, He returned to Saudi Arabia in 1970s where he got many jobs including member of the faculty of sharia at the University of Umm al-Qura in Mecca.
He was succeeded by his son, the 52nd Dai al-Mutlaq Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin who passed away on the 17th January 2014 and was laid to rest in this mausoleum by his son, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd Dai al-Mutlaq of Dawoodi Bohra community.
During the era of Syenda Taher Saifuddin, as a child, Syedi Mufaddal Saifuddin (the successor to the office of Da'i al-Mutlaq of the Dawoodi Bohras after Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin), began the recitation of the Quran in Saifee Villa.
Mutlaq told the PBS NewsHour last year that “Nobody would accept to see that Iraq is not united – that Iraq is going to be disintegrated and to see that the future of Iraq is going to be that way.
Syedna is a title (somewhat analogous to the title of Pope) for the leader of the Dawoodi Bohras, the Da'i al-Mutlaq.
