The festival has also created unique events including Discover the Arts, a hands-on arts program drawing more than 3,400 children annually; Movies in the Park, an outdoor screening of classic and cutting-edge films; Monday Night Family Series, featuring kid-friendly performances from marionettes to music; and, the World Music Series, bringing diverse musical entertainment from around the globe including David Krakauer’s Klezmer Madness, Mariachi Sol de Mexico and San Jose Taiko.

Individually, Metropolitan Klezmer players have worked with such diverse artists as Bonnie Raitt, The Toasters, Bill Frisell, Toshi Reagon, Juan Carlos Formell, Indigo Girls, Burning Spear, Amy Sedaris, Max Roach, Rufus Wainwright, Nora York, and the Microscopic Septet, as well as Jewish music performers from the Klezmatics and Andy Statman to David Krakauer, Sephardic stars Alhambra and SF's Charming Hostess.
The inaugural production featured an original work by Joel Schatzky which starred Bill Krakauer father of noted Klezmer musician David Krakauer.
