The Chinese government have voted that Daxing will be the location of the 2nd Beijing Airport.

Located in the south of Beijing, the area is not as affluent as those that most visitors to Beijing are familiar with, such as Xidan and Guomao.
It extends Line 4 south from its southern terminus at Majialou, on the 4th Ring Road in Fengtai District, to Nanzhao Lu, beyond the 6th Ring Road in Daxing District.

Tongzhou District borders the Beijing districts of Shunyi, Chaoyang and Daxing, Wuqing District of Tianjin Municipality, and Langfang City (both the Sanhe City−Dachang County−Xianghe County exclave and Guangyang District) of Hebei province, and is 12 miles from Tiananmen Square and 10 miles from Beijing Capital International Airport.
