Chiswell was born Richard Muilman, but assumed the extra surnames of Trench and Chiswell by royal licence on 28 November 1772 after the death of his mother’s brother, Richard Chiswell, when he inherited a fortune of £120,000 and Debden Hall in Essex.
AB Airlines was an airline with its head office in the Entreprise House on the property of London Stansted Airport in Uttlesford, Essex.
It was acquired in 1715 by wealthy merchant Richard Chiswell, MP and remained in the Chiswell family for some 100 years.

After the Norman conquest the manor of Debden was granted to Ralph Peverel, but reverted to the crown after Peverel's grandson, William Peverel the Younger, poisoned the Earl of Chester.
