The word Ardakan in Persian means "holy place" or "clean place" (Modern Persian: ardak+an / Middle Persian: artak+an) and the city has a lot of historical religious attractions such as the Grand Mosque of Ardakan (Masjed-e Jame’), Zire-deh Mosque, Emam-Zadeh Mir Seyyed Mohammad and Tekyeh bazaar.

On 17 May 1791, he took part in a charity concert in the Hannover Square Rooms, where he executed the tenor aria "Cara deh torna", specially composed for the occasion by Joseph Haydn.
In 1952 he worked as editor of monthly literary Mah-e Now for about six months (on deputation from government service).
Qazi Deh is the trailhead for a 5 day round trip trek up a narrow side valley to the base camp for Noshaq.
In March 2007 he was commissioned by Dynamic Entertainment DEH, a Dutch independent film production company, to adapt Philip Pullman’s 1992 novel The Butterfly Tattoo (previously published as The White Mercedes) as a feature film, released theatrically and on DVD in 2009.
The Dutch production company Dynamic Entertainment DEH optioned the rights to adapt The Butterfly Tattoo as a motion picture and Phil Hawkins, became attached to direct the film in early 2007.
