Deir ez-Zor, also known as Deir ez Zor, or Deir al-Zur, a city in Syria
Ramadan Shlash (Fr. Chelache), although at one time an official in Deir ez-Zour, is most known for having taken a significant role in the nationalist, anti-colonialist revolt against the French of 1919-1921.
Thus Ras Al-Zour will be connected to the bauxite mine near Zabirah, the phosphate deposits near Jalamid and the agricultural center at Al-Basyata as well as to the oil processing facilities via the Jubail line.
Syrian Airlines was established in autumn 1946, with two propeller aircraft and started to fly between Damascus, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zour and Al-Qamishli.
