At first the party was a member of the Democratic National Alliance a coalition of minor parties under the leadership of Gerald Yetming,then Independent, Member of Parliament for St. Joseph.
Her daughter Dara Healy is a dancer and a politician in Trinidad, and currently serves as Chairman of the Democratic National Assembly party.
