Dender

The Western or Little Dender springs near Leuze-en-Hainaut at an altitude of about 60 to 70 metres above sea level.

Duke of Brabant

Although the corresponding county was quite small (limited to the territory between the rivers Senne and Dender) its name was applied to the entire country under control of the Dukes from the 13th century on.

F.C. Verbroedering Dender Eendracht Hekelgem

The club is named after former clubs KFC Denderleeuw Eendracht Hekelgem and Verbroedering Denderhoutem, which merged at the end of the 2004–05 season, and after the river Dender, which crosses the town of Denderleeuw.
