The Desborough Cut is an artificial channel in the River Thames above Sunbury Lock near Walton on Thames in England.
The second daughter of Sir Harry, Mabel Desborough Parkes, was married to Flag Lieutenant (Royal Navy) Egerton Bagot Byrd Levett-Scrivener of Sibton Abbey, Yoxford, Suffolk.
Prior to this date, Kettering Borough was represented by the Urban District Councils of Burton Latimer, Desborough, Rothwell and Kettering (wholly within the current Borough boundaries) and the Rural District Council of Kettering Rural (mainly within the current Borough boundaries).
By 1936, by marriage and inheritance, the painting had become a part of the Panshanger Estate in Herfordshire, England, and hung in the estates gallery, owned by Baron and Lady Desborough.

She frequently hosted meetings of the celebrated aristocratic, political and literary figures known as "The Souls" at the Desborough residence, with visitors including Henry Irving, Vita Sackville-West, Edward VII, H.G. Wells, Edith Wharton and Oscar Wilde.
