Deva Raya II

During his visit to Calicut in 1443 an assassination attempt on his life was made by his brother which was unsuccessful.

The ruler of Calicut and even the kings of Burma ruling at Pegu and Tanasserim paid tributes.

Srinatha

Srinatha was respected as Kavi Sarvabhouma (King of poets) in Telugu, and patronised by many kings including the Kondavidu Reddys, Velamas of Rachakonda and Deva Raya II of Vijayanagara Empire.


Hoysala literature

The Veerashaiva writer Chamarasa (author of Prabhulingalile, 1425) and his Vaishnava competitor Kumaravyasa (Karnata Bharata Kathamanjari, 1450) popularised the shatpadi metric tradition initiated by Hoysala poet Raghavanka, in the court of Vijayanagara King Deva Raya II.

Kumbha of Mewar

A very tall and powerful man, he was about 7 feet tall; he held the Hindu flag flying high in an age when several Hindu kings like Kapilendradeva of east India, Deva Raya II of south India and Man Singh Tomar of central India defeated the Turkic invaders in different parts of India and expanded their kingdoms.
