Although the band members were born in different corners of Hungary, namely Ajka, Békéscsaba, Celldömölk, Devecser and Szigetvár), 30Y were formed in Pécs, Hungary by the Beck brothers (László and Zoltán), Gradvolt, Sárközi and Varga.
At least ten people died, and about 150 people were injured, in the nearby settlements of Kolontár and Devecser.
