The JTM is affiliated with the Portuguese newspaper "Diário de Notícias," and says in its mission statement that its aim is to encourage the use of Portuguese and help Macau maintain ties with Portugal and the rest of the Portuguese-speaking world.
Aside from this magazine he also made contributions to newspapers such as the Diário de Notícias and the Comércio do Porto.
He has also been a regular columnist at French daily Le Monde and in the Portuguese newspapers Expresso, Público, Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias and Diário de Notícias, having recently started publishing in the last one a new Thursday column, untitled «A Boa Distância» (which can both mean «The Good Distance» and «From a Good Distance»).
