Among her roles as an actress, she appeared in "The Scream," a 1953 episode of the TV series Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. Presents, and a BBC-TV production of Dinner at Eight as a maid: "One of those small parts an actress can do absolutely nothing with except look as pretty as possible, act as naive as possible and stay out of the way of the knives."
The niece of American novelist and playwright Edna Ferber, Fox may have been best known in the role of Bernice Niemeyer in the original Broadway production of Stage Door, and as Tina in the original Broadway production of Dinner at Eight.
Over the years he has composed, arranged, and orchestrated incidental music for the Broadway stagings of numerous dramatic plays, including The Rivals, Dinner at Eight, Ivanov, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, The School for Scandal, The Heiress, and Abe Lincoln in Illinois.
Levene also starred in the Broadway productions Dinner at Eight (1932), Room Service (1937), Light Up the Sky (1948), Heartbreak House (1959), The Impossible Years (1965), and Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys (1972), among many others.
