The Association's first Executives and Founding Board members were Terry McManus, Greg Marshall, Eddie Schwartz, Rich Dodson, Maribeth Solomon, Stephen Stohn, and Executive Director Donna Murphy worked tirelessly during its formative years.

The founding Board of Directors and first Executive consisted of Terry McManus (President), Gregory Marshall (Vice-President), and other Canadian songwriting luminaries, including Eddie Schwartz (Hit Me With Your Best Shot) and Rich Dodson (Sweet City Woman), composer/arranger Maribeth Solomon, and lawyer/lyricist Stephen Stohn - plus Executive Director Donna Murphy.

In partnership with the retired prima ballerina Susan Jaffe, Kurlander has also established the ASP’s Artist Committee whose members include the actor Charles S. Dutton, the actor/comedienne Fran Drescher, the choreographer/dancer Bill T. Jones, the dancer/choreographer Desmond Richardson, the theatre director Robert Wilson and the actor/singer Donna Murphy.
