Donna Dresch

Dresch has been actively involved in the queercore scene since the 1980s, as the creator of the fanzine Chainsaw and contributor to several other seminal zines such as Outpunk and J.D.s, as well as contributing and being featured on the front cover of issue five of Deke Nihilson and Tom Jennings' zine Homocore.

Contributors included musicians and writers such as The Apostles, Steve Abbott, Donna Dresch, Larry Livermore, Daniel Nicoletta, and G. B. Jones.

Longstocking

After this, Tamala Poljak contributed to the collaborative project called KaraNEEDoke, a set of double 7" singles released on the Kill Rock Stars label with participants Nomy Lamm, Slim Moon, Audrey Marrs, Donna Dresch, Tracy Sawyer, formerly of Heavens to Betsy, and Tamala, with music by The Need.

Donna Dresch, founder of the band, had been involved in the queercore scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s as creator of her own fanzine Chainsaw and, in addition to contributing to other zines such as Outpunk and J.D.s, she contributed to and was featured on the cover of issue five of Homocore and appeared in the girl-gang film The Yo-Yo Gang by G.B. Jones.

The cover of the Fifth Column 7 " single, "All Women Are Bitches", features a still shot of Anita Smith from the film, and the flipside, "Donna", features a still shot of Donna Dresch from the film.

The film stars a number of notable musicians, including both members of Anti-Scrunti Faction, Leslie Mah, also of Tribe 8, and Tracie Thomas; Donna Dresch of Team Dresch; and Caroline Azar, Beverly Breckenridge, and Anita Smith, all Fifth Column members.
