Doody, a variant of O'Dowd (Ó Dubhda), is a surname, of Irish heritage.
Doody married Gavin O'Reilly, CEO of the Independent News & Media on 25 June 1994, at the O'Reilly family residence Castlemartin.
Chris Doody was a cofounder of the company and sold his stake to launch Piada Italian Street Food.
From there, he went on to play such roles as Doody from Grease, Dickon from The Secret Garden, and one of the Von Trapp Family from The Sound of Music.
Ordained to the priesthood in 12 March 1927, Doody was named bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Armidale, Australia in 1948 and died in 1968 while still in office.
In his eight years with the show, he scripted "almost every line spoken and every note sung", created characters such as Clarabell the Clown and Princess Summerfall Winterspring, and conceived of Howdy Doody's 1948 run for President of the United States.
Berry also made headlines when he called Rep. Adam Putnam (R-Florida) a "Howdy Doody looking nimrod" while on the House floor.
