Mountain gazelle

It is less well adapted to hot, dry conditions than the Dorcas gazelle, which appears to have replaced the mountain gazelle through some of its range during the late Holocene in a period of climatic warming.

Saluki

The Lances were both keen hunters, and rode with their pack of dogs, including both Salukis and terriers, to course jackal and Dorcas gazelle whilst stationed in the desert.

Souss-Massa National Park

Souss-Massa also holds captive-breeding programmes for four threatened North African ungulates: Scimitar Oryx, Addax, Dama gazelle and Dorcas gazelle, that are kept in separate enclosures within the park.
