Château Dufresne

The founding fathers of the city of Maisonneuve - now incorporated with the city of Montreal - the famous Dufresne brothers were wealthy twentieth century French Canadian entrepreneurs who played a major role in the history of Montreal.

The former residence of Marius Dufresne and Oscar Dufresne, the Château Dufresne was originally divided into two separate households, one for each brother.


Buxton, Maine

In the movie The Shawshank Redemption (based on the novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption by Maine native Stephen King), Buxton is the site of the rock wall where Red goes after being released from prison to retrieve a message from his friend Andy Dufresne, who escaped from prison a few months earlier.

Chapelloise

The French name "La Chapelloise" is derived from a village in eastern France, Chapelle-des-Bois: Legend says that André Dufresne was teaching the dance there in the 1970s, and since participants did not remember its original name, the dance got famous by the name of the village where the workshop took place.
