The program has also been honored by the John Philip Sousa Foundation with the coveted Sudler Flag of Honor recognizing Duncanville as a Nationally Exemplary Band Program.
Summers graduated from Duncanville High School in 1957 and attended Arlington State College, now known as the University of Texas at Arlington.
