The Municipality - often referred to as the 'Village of Dunnottar' - is located on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, just off Highway 9, south of Winnipeg Beach.
It is bordered by the Rural Municipality of Gimli, the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews, and the Village of Dunnottar as well as Lake Winnipeg.
Baron Meston, of Agra in the Indian Empire and Dunnottar in the County of Kincardine, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
The Honours of Scotland had been placed at Dunnottar for safety during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, and Robert Overton, commanding a force of the New Model Army besieged the Castle hoping to recover them.
