After completing his studies at the Vazhakkad Darul Uloom Arabic college under the tutelage of Chalilakath Kunhahammad Haji, he joined the Indian National Movement from 1919 onwards.

He did his primary schooling at the Kodenchery Dars religious seminary before moving to Vazhakkad.
