David Doherty Norrie (born November 30, 1963) is a former American major college and professional football player who currently works as a college football television game analyst for ESPN and ABC.
However, because bowl games operate outside the control of the NCAA, ESPN was able to air the 1982 Independence Bowl between Kansas State and Wisconsin live (through a simulcast with the Mizlou Television Network) – the first live football game televised on ESPN.
He also has served as a college football analyst for ESPN.
The following week, the 'Canes lost to Virginia Tech, 17–10, as ESPN College Football analysts questioned Coker's management of the clock in the game's final minutes.

Pearson left Fox following the 2008 season to return to ESPN to call college football games on ESPN2 and ESPN with Dave Lamont.
Some notable voices of ESPN College Football Primetime over the years have been Ron Franklin, Mike Gottfried and Adrian Karsten, but all have gone on to different assignments, except for Karsten, who died in 2005.
He is often featured alongside ESPN college football analyst Mel Kiper, Jr.
