Bottisham Village College

Mr. Stanley and Lord Elgin met the staff and then inspected the buildings and equipment.

Lady Dufferin Hospital

The foundation laying ceremony was performed on 12 November 1894 by Lady Elgin.


Clackmannanshire Bridge

In 2005 the new crossing was given the go-ahead, and construction began in June 2006, with the sod-cutting ceremony performed by the Scottish Transport Minister, Tavish Scott, accompanied by the Earl of Elgin who as a boy had performed the ceremony for the Kincardine Bridge.

Clerkenwell Priory

James I of England granted the buildings to Lord Aubigny (removing the Revels Office to St. Peter's Hill), and it later passed to Sir William Cecil then to the Earl of Elgin.

In 1623 Joseph Hall, later Bishop of Exeter and Norwich, reopened the repaired choir and, in Charles I's reign, the Earl of Elgin turned the church into the Aylesbury Chapel, as his private chapel.
