Bartholomew MacCarthy (b. Conna, Ballynoe, County Cork, 12 Dec., 1843; d. Inniscarra, Co. Cork, 6 Mar., 1904) was a scholar and chronologist who wrote extensively on Early Irish literature.
The kings that are included range from the almost entirely mythological Labraid Loingsech, who allegedly became High King of Ireland around 431 BC, to the entirely historical Brian Boru.

The greatest book of annals, with a few trifling exceptions also the latest, is known under the title of the "Four Masters".
