In the first series the show promoted unsigned musical guests, during a Battle of the Bands feature but this idea was dropped from the second series in favour of more established acts such as East 17.

During which time Jacobs continued to write and was soon involved with East 17 and Take That plus he made a brief appearance on Top of the Pops with Rozalla.
They also appeared on the Childliners album, The Gift Of Christmas, alongside acts such as Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, MN8, Sean Maguire, Deuce, Ultimate Kaos, Let Loose, East 17, Peter Andre, Michelle Gayle and Dannii Minogue.
From 1993 he was the lyricist, composer, singer, and producer of the national number one and multiple award winning boy-band Hip Hop Boyz and performed at significant festivals (MIDEM, Total Dance, Bravo Festival) and was the opening act for Dr. Alban, East 17, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, DJ BoBo, No Mercy, Michael Jackson and other Hungarian bands and artists.
In 2003 at Keele University Students' Union, Chesney Hawkes and his band performed an (intentionally farcical) punk rock version of "Stay Another Day" in response to East 17 cancelling their appearance later in the night.
