It was created on 28 March 1957 for James Henderson-Stewart, Member of Parliament for East Fife from 1933 to 1961 and Joint Under-Secretary of State for Scotland from 1952 to 1957.
In January 1933, Henderson-Stewart was adopted as Liberal National candidate for East Fife, where the death of the sitting Member of Parliament Sir James Duncan Millar had precipitated a by-election.
Willie McCulloch (born 2 April 1973 in Baillieston, Glasgow) is a Scottish professional football goalkeeper who is currently without a club following his release from East Fife.
Eric Linklater stood as an NPS candidate in the 1933 East Fife by-election, and Neil Gunn played a role in aiding the NPS amalgamation with the Scottish Party.
