Gabriel was married twice: to Elisabeth of Eberstein in 1523 (d. about 1330) and to Elisabeth of Baden, daughter of Margrave Ernst of Baden-Durlach in 1533.
Friedrich Karl Freiherr von Eberstein (14 January 1894 in Halle – 10 February 1979 in Tegernsee) was a member of the German nobility, early member of the Nazi Party, the SA, and the SS (introducing Reinhard Heydrich to Heinrich Himmler in July 1931).
He tried to convince the commander of the German troops in the city, Count Otto IV van Eberstein, son of William IV of Eberstein, to deliver the city to the Spanish.
It was created as a partition of Sponheim-Eberstein in 1261, and it comprised the lands of the former County of Sayn.
In 1329, King Christopher II concluded an agreement with Marsk Ludvig Eberstein, head of the armed forces, after his surrender at Hammershus and in 1329 made peace with Count Johann of Holstein.
