On 12 July 1980, he married Penelope Lucy Brunet (now Lady Mowbray), daughter of Dr. Peter Cameron Jamieson Brunet in the chapel of St Aloysius, Oxford.

Louise Stourton (b. 1982); married since 2011 to Harry Aubrey-Fletcher (b. 1982), youngest son of Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, 8th Baronet, and a close friend of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge since their Eton days.
The peerages created for him died out with his grandson the 9th Duke in 1777, though the current Baron Mowbray descends from the 9th Duke.
