It was granted to Edward Sutton, 4th Baron Dudley when the family property was restored to him in 1555 and devolved as part of the family estates until 1947 in the same was as Swindon.

Edmund and Joyce's first son was Edward Sutton (b. 1459) who succeeded his grandfather, John Sutton, as 2nd Baron Dudley.
Their son was Edward Grey, 3rd Baron Grey of Powis, to whom his uncle John, Lord Dudley, sold the Tiptoft-Dudley portion of Powis Castle.
Ultimately he fell out with Dud and expelled Dud from the new coke-fired furnace that he had built at Hasco Bridge on the boundary between Gornal and Himley.
