Sovereignty of the Dukes over Gützkow and Demmin was secured and the economy and culture were stimulated by the immigration of German settlers and by the monastery Jaromar I had founded at Eldena.
During the winter term of 1834/35 he began teaching classes in natural history at the recently built scientific academy at Eldena (near Greifswald), where he worked closely with his former teacher, Friedrich Gottlob Schulze (1795–1860).
They were described by Jonas Korte, a publisher from Eldena, as "three chapels, with a small altar. They are called tabernacles, and they are said to represent the three huts which Peter desired to build, one for his Master (Jesus) the other two for Moses and Elias (Elijah)".
Franz Eilhard Schulze (March 22, 1815 – November 2, 1921) was a German anatomist and zoologist born in Eldena, near Greifswald.
He received his habilitation in Berlin in 1851, afterwards teaching classes at the University of Greifswald, and during the same time period, giving lectures at the agricultural college in Eldena.
His plan was to prepare himself to be a professor in the agricultural school in Eldena.
