2 unusual facts about Elisabeth Olin

Hedvig Wigert

Just as the great Elisabeth Olin, she was by then a singer and well known for her musical talent, called: "one for her musical talent already well-known female", and Gustav III wanted her for the part of the goddess Doris in the opening grand opera Thetis och Pélée (an opera in Swedish composed by Francesco Uttini with words by Johan Wellander) at the inauguration of the new Opera.

Lovisa Augusti

Augusti was the cover for the great prima donna Elisabeth Olin whenever she was sick or had to take maternity leave, but when Olin retired in 1784, she was replaced as the leading prima donna by Caroline Halle-Müller, not with Augusti.

Charlotte Slottsberg

In 1773, she took part in the famous play Thetis and Phelée by Uttini, known as the first Swedish-speaking Opera-performance, at the inauguration of the Roysal Swedish Opera opposite Elisabeth Olin and Carl Stenborg in the main parts; another participant in the play, who were to become famous, was Christoffer Christian Karsten, the grandfather of Marie Taglioni.

Sofia Liljegren

Gustaw Löwenhielm also mention her as one of the few native talents between Elisabeth Olin, who retired in 1784, and Jeanette Wässelius, who had her breakthrough in 1800, though he considers her overestimated and not as good as Inga Åberg.
