Sir William Fermor, 1st Baronet

A Major Farmer was sent in 1659 with a troop of horse to secure Carlisle for Monck, but failed in the attempt, Elton, who commanded in the city, inducing the soldiers to keep him out.


Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart

Currently, "Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart" is tied with Hey Jude for third amongst longest-running No. 1 songs by British artists on the Billboard pop charts, behind "Candle in the Wind 1997"/"Something About the Way You Look Tonight" by Elton John (14 weeks, 1997-1998) and "We Found Love" by Rihanna with British artist Calvin Harris (10 weeks, 2011).

Blind Tom Wiggins

The Elton John song, "The Ballad of Blind Tom", off his recent album "The Diving Board", is about Blind Tom.

Booches

During the mid to late 1970s, the then-owners of Booches's edited and published four issues of the Review la Booche, a literary journal featuring poetry, prose, sketches and photographs by contributors of such prominence as John Ciardi, William Stafford, Elton Glaser, Frank Stack and Richard Eberhart, along with local and regional contributors.

CalCOFI

The program was initially led by Oscar Elton Sette, who forged a collaboration between research institutions (Scripps Institution of Oceanography) and government agencies (California Fish and Game Commission- recently renamed the California Department of Fish and Wildlife- and the United States Fish Commission- now known as the NOAA Fisheries Service) with the goal of resource management and fisheries conservation of the Eastern Pacific.

The character of Billy Rose (played by James Caan) in the 1975 film Funny Lady also habitually drank celery tonic, as an alternative to alcohol. Finally, it was used as a plot point joining assistant Harriet Smith and senator James Elton in the popular web series Emma Approved, written and directed by the makers of "The Lizzie Bennet Diaries".

She instead travelled to London where she studied with Maria Curcio, who awarded her a scholarship and later entered the Royal Academy of Music where she studied piano with Christopher Elton and conducting with Colin Metters.

Kim Elton

From 1995 to 1999, Elton represented the 3rd District, which encompasses the portion of Juneau on the mainland from Thane to Juneau International Airport, in addition to Douglas Island.
