The school gained national attention in December 1988 after its pupils and teachers were first on the scene of the Clapham Junction rail crash, which occurred just to the west of the main building.
Later in 1983, Years 3 to 7 moved to an unused school in Watsons Bay, in the grounds of Our Lady Star of the Sea.
