The Division then participated in the Battle of Espinosa, fought on 10 and 11 November at the township of Espinosa de los Monteros in the Cantabrian Mountains.
The village is spread over a large rural area at the southern outskirts of a mountainous area of the Cantabrian Mountains.
Recorded for the first time in 899 as Count of Burgos, soon the region expanded to the eastern mountain valleys enabling Gonzalo to make his fort base in Lara, thus stretching his rule from the foot of the Cantabrian Mountains around Espinosa de los Monteros to the river Arlanza, which therefore became the border with the neighbouring Muslim territories.

His father, Anselmo Manuel de Salinas Varona y Céspedes, born in Espinosa de Los Monteros (Spain), was a coronel of the Spanish Army and bought the estates of the Augustinians in the Huaura Valley of the Sayán District, 100 miles north of Lima, including the important Andahuasi Estate.
Ibarra's printing used various foundries of his time, highlighting games Gerónimo Gil, the Smelter Rangel (used by the Gazette, and they really are a game of Garamond), types of Lleida Eudald Pradell with casting Madrid, a game of Garamond, and the celebrated and reviled italic cast which composed the Sallust, abierta open by the academic and writer Murcia Espinosa de los Monteros, who owned a foundry in Madrid.
