Albert Minczér (born 1 October 1986 in Esztergom) is a Hungarian athlete.
With 300 infantrymen at his command, in 1542 Serbelloni distinguished himself against the Ottoman Turks in the defence of Esztergom.
In 2007 an international media coup resulted from the claim by Mária Prokopp art historian and Zsuzsanna Wierdl art restorer that a fresco in the Archiepiscopal Castle of Esztergom in Hungary was the work of Sandro Botticelli.
In 1519, for Archbishop Tamás Bakócz (†l521) he provided the design for the marble altar for the Bakócz chapel at Esztergom, which is the earliest and most significant surviving Renaissance building in Hungary.
In the 15 years war he joined the Army, and died at the siege of Esztergom-Víziváros the same year as the result of a severe leg wound caused by a cannonball.
Following the death of his elder brother, who had been fighting against the Byzantine Empire, Béla could only ascend to the throne with the assistance of his uncle Emperor Manuel I and Pope Alexander III, because a significant part of the Hungarian aristocracy led by his own mother and the Archbishop of Esztergom preferred his younger brother's succession.
As he also wanted to strengthen the position of the towns, he confirmed the charter of Székesfehérvár and granted new privileges to several key towns in the kingdom (Pest, Nagyszombat (Trnava), Selmecbánya (Banská Štiavnica), Korpona (Krupina), Zólyom (Zvolen), Bars (Starý Tekov), and Esztergom).
Now integrated to MÁV's (Hungarian State Railways) network: Esztergom HÉV (today suburban railway, since 1931 owned by Hungarian State Railways), Lajosmizse HÉV (suburban railway, a.k.a. Budapest-Tiszai HÉV (1909)), Vác–Budapest–Veresegyház–Gödöllő HÉV (partially abandoned, but the Vác-Veresegyház-Budapest line is still in operation).
His sculptures "St Gellért" and "Frater Julianus" were erected at the Fishermen's Bastion in Budapest in 1937, and at the Coronation of St Stephen in Esztergom in 1938.
Now there are four Passion paintings in Esztergom,Hungary, in the Christian Museum; the painting "The Birth of Christ" is held in Svätý Anton (formerly known also as Hontszentantal) near Banská Štiavnica, and The Adoration of the Magi is in the Museum of Lille in France.
The order was organized around a hospital that the king had earlier established in Esztergom (at that time an important station on the inland pilgrim route to the Holy Land) in honor of King St Stephen I of Hungary.
