EuroSpeedway Lausitz

In the late 1990s, this idea was taken up again in order to build a replacement for the AVUS in Berlin.

The official EuroSpeedway anthem "Speed Kings" was recorded by the veteran East German band Puhdys in 2000.

The last concert of German Hard Rock Band Böhse Onkelz took place on 17 and 18 June 2005 at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz under the name Vaya Con Tioz, in front of approximately 120,000.

Leigh Diffey

In 2001 Diffey filled in for Jeremy Shaw covering the Champ Car series for ESPN International alongside Ben Edwards at the Rockingham Motor Speedway (United Kingdom) and the Lausitzring (Germany).

It began on 22 April at Hockenheim and finished on 14 October at the same circuit, after nine races including a double-header at Lausitzring.

A series of 8 successive top ten finishes earned him a promotion at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz round where he raced for the Xerox sponsored Ducati factory team in place of the injured Régis Laconi.
