The first annual general meeting was held on 6 October 1956 at Friends' House in Euston Road, London.
The show originally featured the Network Top 30 and ran from 5pm until 7pm in direct competition to BBC Radio One's Top 40 chart show and was broadcast from Capital Radio's studios on Euston Road in London.

Bloomsbury is an area of central London between Euston Road and Holborn, developed by the Russell family in the 17th and 18th centuries into a fashionable residential area.
The construction in the 1860s of the Midland Railway's London terminus, St Pancras railway station, necessitated the demolition of a number of buildings on Euston Road, one of which was the recently erected St Luke's Church, designed by John Johnson and built in 1856-61 on the corner of Midland Road.
Later in 1938, the Euston Road artists contributed to the Fifteen paintings of London exhibition held at the Storran Gallery.
In late 2006 the new entrance on the south side of Euston Road opened in a corner of the new headquarters of the Wellcome Trust replacing the old entrance.
